Joe was head of the Chamber of Commerce 1977-86. In 1888, Joe was named the Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary Club of Chesterton.
He moved the Morgan one-room school in 1975. It is now a two-story house.
He owned at one time the old A&T building on 5th Street.
He developed Gaelic Green off 5th Street in Chesterton.
