Elizabeth Meriam Case Prentice, known as Betty, was born the sixth of seven children to Deacon Joseph Mer(r)iam (1734-1814) and his wife Sarah Wadsworth (1743-1828) of Grafton, Worcester Co., MA. Elizabeth married twice. On May 3, 1809 she married Elijah Case (1781-1821) and by him had three children: John Merriam (b. 1810), Martha Fidelia (b. 1811), and Sarah Elizabeth (b. 1817). After the death of her first husband in 1821 Elizabeth married Charles Prentice (1781-1853) on May 9, 1824 in Grafton. Charles served as town clerk for Grafton. Elizabeth died in Grafton and is presumed to be buried in the Old Oak Street Burial Ground, where much of her family lies.
