Mary McNeil was the daughter of Andrew McNeil and Margaret "Minnie" Downie. She married Matthew Dick about 1901 in Scotland; later divorced. She immigrated to the U.S. arriving in NY on December 15, 1902. She and Matthew were the parents of Robert Craig, Andrew McNeil and Matthew McGroger Dick, however all three sons adopted the surname of Mary's 2nd husband James Monroe DOUGHERTY. She married James Monroe Dougherty in 1908 in Sheridan, WY ; he died in 1933. They were the parents of James Monroe Jr, Ruth Julia, Mary Emma and Alice Dougherty. She later married Thomas E. Revas.
