Elizabeth's name is unclear. I've seen it as Elizabeth Ann Basselle, Bazill, or Baselye. Her birth year ranges from 1598-1615. I'm still searching for a document with her true birth information. On the New Hampshire, Death and Disinterment Records, 1754-1947 she is listed as Bassell Swaine.

Bassell, was the first wife of Richard Swayne or Swain Sr.
A Bazill Saunders and Richard Swayne were married September 8, 1617 at St. Mary's, Battersea, Wandsworth Borough, County Surrey, England. Which is now South London.

She and Richard were the parents of eight children.

The Swayne family came to the New Colony on three separate ships. Richard sent his wife Bassell ahead in April 1635 on the ship 'Planter', with children, Nicholas, Grace and John.
The two oldest sons William and Francis aboard the 'Rebecca'.
Richard left England September 17, 1635 aboard the 'Truelove'.

The family first lived in the small town of Rowley, Massachusetts. Later they moved to Hampton, New Hampshire where Richard is listed as among the first settlers.

Bassell Swain passed away at her home in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.

William, her eldest son perished at sea between Hampton and Boston October 20th 1657, three months after his mother's death.

Elizabeth Ann (Bassell) Saunders was my 9th great grandmother.

If anyone has more or better information on Bassell, please contact me.Richard Swain married (1) by about 1619 Basil ____ (assuming she was the mother of all his pre-immigration children).
They had 7 children: William, Francis, Nicholas, Grace Boulter, Richard, John, & Elizabeth Weare.
Source: Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration Study Project.

There is no reliable evidence that the mother of any of Richard Swain's children bore the Christian name Elizabeth, or a maiden name like Baselie. Basil's daughter Elizabeth's baptismal record in Hampton Mass., says: "Elizabeth the daughter of Richard Swaine & Basell his wife was baptized at Newbury, ye same 9th day. [1638]." There is no actual record that reports Elizabeth's mother to be Elizabeth "Bassell" Swain, as reported in another FAG memorial purporting to be that of Richard Swain's first wife. (see FAG # 9118498).
Nor is there any evidence that "Richard sent his wife Bassell ahead in April 1635 on the ship 'Planter', with children, Nicholas, Grace and John." (According to Anderson, this 1635 passenger list and that of the "Susan & Ellen" record only two Elizabeth Swains planning to travel alone and identified in no subsequent New England records.)
Since the birthplace of Richard & Basil's oldest child William (b. ca. 1619) is unknown, it is possible that a 1617 Surrey marriage record for "Richard Swayne and Bazill Saunders" does belong to this couple, but further proof is required.

There is a Bassell Swaine New Hampshire, Death and Disinterment Record, 1754-1947 that shows a Bassell Swaine death 15 Mar 1657, NH that might be her. Actually the transciption of the Bassell Swaine NH, Death and Disinterment Records, 1754-1947 is incorrect the image actually says 15th of the 5 mo 1657. It's clearly a 5 and not a 3.
