Met her future husband Robert at local Square Dance in Minco. A couple years later they were married in the same Square dance Hall after she had played in a High School softball game. She was 17. She finally completed her GED in 1972 and eventually earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary education. She taught pre-k in the Fort Worth ISD for a few years before resigning in order to manage the families growing art business.
