Robert Arvid Nelson, 81, of Port Townsend passed away on January 24, 2011.

He was born June 22, 1929, to Magnus Sten and Julianna (Hansen) Nelson in Ballard, Washington.

He married Betty Bogan on March 17, 1972, in Seattle, Washington.

Mr. Nelson worked for The Seattle Times for 46 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Chimacum and the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Nelson (Leslie), of Morgan Hill, California, James Steinfort and Roger Steinfort; daughter, Wendy of Bozeman, Montana; brother, Magnus of Seattle, Washington; sister, Julie of Port Ludlow; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 1 p.m., at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Chimacum, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Chimacum.
