Mr. Van Elliott, Sr., 88, formerly of 108 Brook Circle, Danville, went to be with his Lord at the Danville Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Thomas Howard Elliott and Serelza Wells Elliott of Danville, VA.

He lived most of his life in the Westover Hills community, he was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the City of Danville. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he was a superintendent and Sunday school teacher, a Boy Scout Master and Charter Member of Westover Sertoma Club.

He was predeceased by his loving spouse, Dorothy Wright Elliott whom he was married to for 65 years. Survivors include daughters Janice Elliott Richardson and husband, Berkley Richardson, Susan Elliott Ricketts and husband, H T Ricketts, Martha Elliott Knick and husband, Gary Knick, son, Van Elliott, Jr., and wife, Nickie Elliott, sisters Cordie Mae Elliott Shelton, Erma Motley, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Lucille Hayden and Iris Shelton, brothers, Calvin, Curtis, Cecil, and Hassell Elliott.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Kathleen Monge were held at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Interment followed in the Schoolfield Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion 1097.
