Owen Creech

Owen Creech, age 72, of Cumberland passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, in Louisville after a brief illness.

He attended Cumberland High School. He was a coal miner for 27 years and a loyal member of the UMWA. He was a veteran in the US Army and a "Screaming Eagle" with the 101st Airborne Division. He belonged to Fields Lodge #832 and was a Shriner and a 32nd degree Mason. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a good friend.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Sue Ella Creech, and his son, Michael Owen Creech.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Creech (Nina) of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Martha Blansette (Kevin) of Louisville; brothers, Leroy Creech (Sue) of Okeechobee, Florida and Curtis Creech (Sheila) of Pt. Richey, Florida; grandchildren, Stanley Creech (Destiny), Christiane Creech, Nate and Holly Blansette; and great-granddaughter, Courtnee Creech. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 16, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Wade Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Cumberland.
