Helen Westlake, 94, of Corning died January 17, 2005 at Corning Nursing and Rehab Center. Services were 2 p.m. January 22, 2005, Coen-Beaty-Funeral Home, Corning, Iowa with the Rev. Ken Rummer officiating. Burial was in Prairie Rose Hill Cemetery at Corning. Memorials may be directed in her name. Coen-Beaty-Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Westlake was born December 3, 1910, i Stringtown to William and Jennie Bowl Barr Case. She graduated from Lenox High School in 1929. On November 2, 1936, she married Floyd Frederick Westlake in Bethany, Missouri. Mrs. Westlake taught Adams County Country Schools in Carl, Pickford, and Fairview, and Head Start in Corning for 22 years, retiring when she was 85. She was a member of Stringtown Church.
Survivors include daughters, Marie Law of Corning, Iowa, and Lois Carmichael of Valdosta, Georgia; sons, Richard (wife Virginia) Westlake of Brooks, and Ron Westlake of Unionville, Missouri; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd Westlake; sons Fluyd F. Westlake Jr., and Lloyd W. Westlake; brothers, Albert Case, Charles Case, and Ralph Case; sister Mary Dicks; brother-in-law Robert Dicks; sister-in-law, Zepha Case, May Case, Nora Case, and Agnes Case; grandchildren, Mark Carmichael and Sara Law; and son-in-law, Ronald Law.
