Son of William Henry Burden and Harriet Eliza Camp Burden.

After an extended illness Mr. Thomas Marion Burden on January 29th, 1927 was called from the trials of this earthly life in the joys of the heavenly life and in his passing the community loses, in our judgement, the best man in it, one of its steadfast and staunch supporters and his presence will be sorely missed in church. Every one in the community will feel the loss of its most earnest friend, one who was true, honest, upright and in all things honorable.
Mr. Burden was born Jan. 27th, 1855 and at the time of his departure was 72 years and 10 days old. He leaves a wife and seven children, two boys and five girls: Mrs. Sindy Cheatham, Town Creek Rt. 3; Mrs Ada Thrasher of Brazelton, Georgia; Mrs. Maggie Terry, Moulton, Rt. 4; Mrs. Sarah Terry, Town Creek Rt. 3; Mrs. Alda Loosier of Wheeler Ala; William Thos, and John Henry Burden, Town Creek Rt. 3; 41 grand children; 4 great grand children; 3 brothers J. W. Burden of Hico Tex; Jim Burden and Martin Burden of Town Creek Rt. 3; a sister, Mrs Martha Chrisler, Town Creek Rt. 3; Mrs. Haritte Thrasher, Moulton R. 4; Mrs Margie Terry, Town Creek Rt. 3 and a great host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing but we feel and are made sure that our loss is Heavens gain.
He was a member of the New Liberty Congregational Methodist Church. He was always at his post of duty, ready to spend and be spent in defense and for the cause of Christ. He stood for what was right in his community, in his county, and in his state. He lived, not for himself alone, but for others. He was a man that loved his children and taught them right and they never as much as heard their father use a by-word and during all his illness and suffering of untold pain he never murmured but was perfectly submissive to the will of God. He often said that he did not have the gift of public speech but that he wanted his life to be his testimony and this of course is the best that one can make.
He will be greatly missed in the home, in the church and in the community but we must say farewell for a short time only. His body was peacefully laid to rest in the Black Ground Cemetery on Sunday, January 30th.
We loved him, yes we loved him but God loved him more and he has calmly passed yonder shining shore. Good bye Father till we meet again.
