She was the ninth child and sixth and last daughter of Henry Clayton and Elizabeth Hill Ewin. Her parents died in 1855. She and her sister Lizzie went to live with their brother John H. Ewin in May 1855. Sister Lizzie later married Col. Cannon Feb 20. 1856. I married Samuel Fearn Perkins son of Thomas Fearn Perkins and America Cannon Perkins on June 29, 1858.
