Taken from the diary of John Hughes Henderson, Sr.
For several years he was he was a merchanat Triune, TN., was one of half dozen men in Williamson County who built the Tennessee & Alabama R.R. toFranklin and was a member of the first Board of Directors. When barely twenty one was elected Justice of Peace of his district. He married America Cannon, eldest daughter of Gov. Newton Cannon. She preceded him to the grave by many years. To this union were born several children, only two survice the father, Capt. Thomas F. Perkins and Dr. Newton C. Perkins. All of the other children died in their youth except Mr. Samuel F. Perkins who died several years ago. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
