VINES, ANDREW PVT
Co. G, 18th. Alabama Infantry Reg.,

Andrew Jackson Vines, son of Joesph Vines and Susan Stogsdell and husband of Huldah Ann Adams.

Andrew enlisted as a private in Co. G, 18th. Alabama Infantry Reg., CSA on 11-11-1862 at Camp Beulah, Mobile, Alabama, by Captain Walker and was paid a $50.00 bounty for enlisting.;

He was captured at Missonary Ridge, Tn on 11-25-1863 and sent to Rock Island Prison, Rock Island , Illinois.;
On 2-1-1864 he was admitted to the prison hospital with what was believed to be smallpox.;

He died on 2-19-1864. Hospital records states that he died from pneumonia.;
He is buried in grave #522 in the Confederate secotion of Rock Island Cemetery, south of the barracks.;
He was 36 years old, had blue eyes, dark hair, dark complexion and was 5ft 8 inches in height.
