Born January 22, 1923 in Lansing, Michigan to Henry and Fern Baker, passed away peacefully May 29, 2012 at the age of 89. Bessie was a graduate of Central High School and received her Bachelors and Masters degree from Michigan State University. She was a teacher at Everett and Hill High Schools. Bessie was employed as an accountant with Everett L. White, CPA and worked for Mill Dry Goods. Bessie and her husband Floyd Morell operated The Living Word Book Store in Okemos prior to his death in 1993. She married Charles E. Williams of Lansing June 4, 2005. Bessie was a member of Trinity Church.
Bessie was preceded in death by her first husband Floyd; step-daughter, Diane Wright and sister-in-law, Bertha Baker. She is survived by her husband Charles; step-daughter, Carol (Mark) Feuss; step-sons, Rev. Dale (Marie) Morell; Robert (Juanita) Morell; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother, Rev. Chester (Josephine) Baker; nieces, Sharron M. Scott and Dr. Beulah Baker.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 1, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd., Lansing with the Rev. Royce Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
