In 1836 he left New Jersey for work in Pennsylvania.
He married Amelia Charity Wells, February 2, 1837, Jefferson, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where they had six of their 11 or more children.
On the 1850 census, Fayette, Penna, Lewis and Charity have children James, Mordecai J, Thomas, Mary Jane and Margaret M.
In 1851, they moved to Batesville, Ohio, where he was a farmer, millwright and teacher. They first lived in Beaver Twp along Beaver Creek. They appear on the 1860 census, Williamsburg, Beaver, Noble, Ohio with children James W, Thomas, Mary, Margaret, Joseph, William E, George and Samuel S. Adjacent to his married son Mordecai J and wife Cidna E with their daughter Anna 2.
About 1860, they moved to Seneca Twp on Mud Run. After living in various places in Ohio, including Glady Valley, they moved to Middlebourne, Tyler, West Virginia about 1874. Later they moved to his daughter Mary Jane Reed.
The Warners were Quakers, however Lazear Chapel Church is Methodist Episcopal
A lot of the family settled in Monroe County or Noble County, Ohio and Tyler County, West Virginia which were across the Ohio River from one another
When he died, all 11 of their children were living along with 71 grandchildren.
