William E. Brown, son of Jacob and Lydia Brown, was born in Washington county, Ohio, Aug. 19, 1871, and departed this life, May 31st, 1935, at his home near Ladd, Ohio. He was dragged to death by a team of runaway horses.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Riley, Oct. 27th, 1897. To this union were born three children, two of whom survive, Howard and Alice; Edna having preceded him in death.
Besides his widow and two children, he leaves a grand-daughter, Norma; a brother, Judson, and sister, Mary Crabtree, both of Ladd, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his departure.
Mr. Brown was formerly a member of the Christian Union Church, at Ladd, but later transferred his membership to the Mt. Joy Christian Church, where he remained a devoted member until death. He was especially interested in the Sunday School, where he served as superintendent or teacher much of the time. He was a man who loved to help in our community life, especially our Annual Home-coming. Whether to work on the grounds or act as chairman, he was always there.
In Rev. 14:13 we read, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
When the day breaks, and the shadows have flown away, and the glorious resurrection morning has come--in another, a heavenly land, we shall again see the smiling face and clasp the hand of our departed husband, father, brother, and friend, William Brown.
Funeral services at Mount Joy Church, conducted by Rev. J. R. Coppock.
