BARRE -- Doris L. Brown, 68, a longtime resident of Jacques Street, died Nov. 30, 1996, in Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin after several months of ill health.
Born May 13, 1928, in Barre Town, she was the daughter of Emile and Emma (Perreault) LeFebvre. She attended Barre schools and Spaulding High School.
She and her husband, Alexander Brown Jr., lived on Jacques Street since their marriage.
Mrs. Brown was employed for several years at the former Gladstone Shoe Store in Barre and later at the City Boot Shop in Montpelier, until retiring in the mid 1980s.
She particularly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and cooking and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband of Barre; a daughter, Leslie McBride of Santa Clara, Calif.; two sons, Terrence Boyer of Hollister, Calif.; and David Brown of Barre; four grandchildren; and a brother, Robert LeFebvre of East Hartford, Conn. A sister Muriel Matte, is deceased.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Hooker & Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. Private burial will be held prior to the service in Hope Cemetery.
