L.B. Earp

L.B. Earp, 81 years old, Oklahoma City resident passed away Tuesday May 29, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

L.B. was born on May 20, 1931 in Jay, Oklahoma to Jay B. and Sarah Jane (Raper) Earp.

Raised in Jay, L.B. graduated from Jay High School in 1948.

He proudly served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War, serving in France as a mechanic and later as a cook.

L.B. married Glenda (Hardy) on June 4, 1952 in Jay Oklahoma.

L.B. was a graduate from Oklahoma State A&M, and had several careers over the years. He was a teacher, then became a superintendent for several different school districts.

L.B. was also the Director of Economic Development for Northeastern Oklahoma, and was the Grand Gateway Director for many years. He was the Affirmative Action Officer for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission until he retired in 1997.

L.B. was a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He loved to cook, travel and fish, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

L.B. was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Earp.

L.B. is survived by his wife, Glenda, of the home, son, Leslie Brent Earp and wife Sandra, of Arcadia, Oklahoma, daughters Elizabeth Earp Boone, and husband Steve, of Cedar Creek, Texas, and Leslie Reichert and husband Frederick of Moore, Oklahoma, sisters Mildred Smith of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, and Melvina Smith of Wellington, Kansas.

L.B. is also survived by two grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Daugherty, and four great grandchildren Carly Jewel Reichert and sibling due in December 2012, Alysa Daugherty and Lukas Daugherty. Funeral services for L.B. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday June 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Jay, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Duffield Cemetery

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday May 31, 2012 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma.

L.B. had spent the last several years of his life as a dialysis patient.
