Roger P. Crome Sr.

Crome, Sr., Roger Phillip 65, of Sycamore, formerly of Burlington passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born December 31, 1946 in Lawton, OK the son of John and Dorothy Juanita (Roskam) Crome. Roger grew up in Burlington and attended Burlington Elementary School and Burlington Central High School. Roger served in the Army from 1965 to 1968 in the 7th Battalion (HAWK) 5th Artillery. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam war. Roger worked as an electrician for 37 years and was a member of the IBEW Local #117. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and loved to play cribbage. Surviving are his wife Connie (nee Dodd) Crome whom he married November 17, 1984; his mother Juanita Crome of Genoa; sons Roger (Cristy) Crome Jr. and John (Nicole) Crome both of Sycamore; daughter Dawn Reis of Wonder Lake; stepson Duane (Sharon) Zeilmann of Peoria, AZ; Stepdaughter Dawn (James) Northcutt of Marengo; grandchildren Derrick and Brayden Crome, Gabriel, Elijah, and Lillian Crome, Jourden and Shawn Reis, Konner, Keegan and Kyle Northcutt; a sister Patricia (Richard) Laverty of St. Charles, and brothers Kenneth (Patricia) Crome of Genoa and Charles (Marissa) Crome of Davis Junction. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 1, at the St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road, Burlington with Pastor Howard Gleason officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Fredrick Funeral Home 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Friday at the Church prior to services from 10 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association National Headquarters, 225 N.
