Miss Marianne A. Bard, 84, former teacher and school administrator in the Twin Cities, died Saturday, January 29, at Berrien General Hospital, Berrien Center. She was 84 and had resided at Oles Homestead for the Aged.
Funeral services will be held at Peace Temple United Methodist Church, Benton Harbor, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Morton Hill Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
Miss Bard was born Oct. 8, 1898, in Chicago. She retired in 1963 after 42 years of educational service. She served as principal at Hull Elementary School, Benton Harbor, from 1947-50 and taught at Lafayette and Bard schools, Benton Harbor.
Miss Bard retired from the St. Joseph Public Schools in 1963 after serving 12 years as the system's physical education teacher for the elementary schools, a program which she developed.
Miss Bard's parents gave the land for the first Bard school in 1915.
She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, National Retired Teachers Association, Benton Harbor-St. Joseph Federation of Women's Clubs of which she was a past president, Algonquin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a life member of the Central Michigan University Alumni organization, Alpha Beta Epsi- lon Sorority, and a charter member of Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
