Walter Leroy Bishop, 87, 128 West Louther St., Carlisle, died Wednesday in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born in Cumberland County and was the son of the late James W and Myrtle Motter Bishop. He was the widower of Mary Thompson Bishop and resided most of his life in Carlisle.
He was employed at Carlisle Barracks with the Post Engineers for 35 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Sunday school, Carlisle, where he was a member of the board of trustees for over 20 years. He was a member of the Union Fire Company, Bosler, Library, Hamilton Library, all of Carlisle, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Myrtle Palmer, Newville; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. John L. Larson officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
