Mrs. Victoria Noland Exum, granddaughter of the last confederate governor of Mississippi, and for the past 43 years active in Calvary Episcopal Church work, died at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning at Methodist Hospital. She lived at 1380 Madison. Mrs. Exum moved to Memphis with her husband, the late Edward W. Exum in 1895. She was a member of the King's Daughters and the Daughters of the King's Daughters. She was a former member of the Nineteenth Century Club. She aided in forming the Newsboys Club of Calvary Church, and until 12 years ago, was one of its directors. Her grandfather, the late William McWillie, was governor of Mississippi from 1857 to 1959. She leaves three children, V. Noland Thomas of Memphis; S.L. Thomas of Detroit; Edwin M. Thomas of Brownsville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. W.K. Baldwin and Mrs. Lawson Ballou of Memphis, and a brother, McWillie Noland of Memphis. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at Calvary Episcopal Church with Dr. Charles F. Blaisdell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with J.T.Hinton & Son in charge. (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN, on July 8, 1938)
