Caire, James Purnell 90 May 28, 1921 April 29, 2012 James Purnell Caire, age 90, passed on at Laurel Parc Assisted Living on April 29, 2012. Born on May 28, 1921 in New Orleans, Jim grew up in New Orleans and lived in Seattle, Galveston, Salem, Portland and Hillsboro.

He fought in World War II, was a lieutenant commander in the reserves for many years, retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and worked designing store interiors for Stanton store fixtures. Jim was an original member of the Cascade Sports Car Club in the late 1950s, enjoyed reading sports cars magazines and listening to the blues and jazz music performed by local musicians. Jim loved to socialize, drive fast, eat and drink hearty and fresh local berries.

Survivors include his children, Leslie Meharry of Vancouver, Wash., Mike Caire of Beaverton, Denise Caire of Hillsboro; and grandchildren, Jennifer Caire of Tigard, Leanne Seeley of Portland and Kristin Green of Gresham; and great-grandson, James Teeter III. Jim is survived by his brother and only sibling, Harry George Caire of New Orleans. His wife, Marjorie Mae Caire (Elliott) passed in 1997.

The memorial service for Jim will be on May 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4141 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.

A private burial will be at Harrison Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service with desserts and beverages after. Johnny Martin will sing at the service.
