Thelma Odessa Roberson, 90, long time resident of Magnolia, went to join the heavenly choir on Saturday, September 11, 2010. She had spent the last 3 years in the loving care of the staff at Colonial Gardens in Ft. Worth, Texas, where she will be greatly missed.
Thelma was born February 22, 1920 to the late J.W. and Rosie L. (Pierce) Colvert in Bearden, Arkansas. She attended school and graduated from High School in Village, Arkansas. She married Andrew Thomas Roberson of Atlanta, Arkansas on Christmas Eve, 1939. Thelma was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Magnolia, where she spent many years with her friend Laverne Summerlin teaching young children the love of Jesus in the Beginner Sunday School Department at First Baptist Church, Magnolia. She also enjoyed fellowshipping with the members of the Chapel Singers at First Baptist, singing praises to her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Roland Andrew (Ronnie) Roberson; sisters, Ginny Wilson and Erna Wilson; and brother, Thurman Colvert.
Survivors are her sons, Gerald T. Roberson and wife Madelon of Magnolia, Arkansas, Steve J. Roberson and wife Faye of Benbrook, Texas; grandchildren, Beverly Lynn Roberson Real and husband John of Houston, Texas, Charles Edward Roberson of Kaplin, Louisiana; and numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10am in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Magnolia, with Bro. Richard Walters officiating. The First Baptist Church Chapel Singers will be singing in honor of Thelma’s home-going. Burial will follow in Magnolia City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home. Family visitation at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening. Pallbearers will be Lamar Lee, Charles Roberson, William Roberson, Robby Rogers, Ricky Talley, and Wayne Winkler.
