Wayne M. Fisher, age 93, of Iowa Falls, died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 4th at the First Congregational U.C.C. in Iowa Falls with inurnment in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 P.M. Sunday, June 3rd at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Wayne Martin Fisher was born on April 12, 1919 in Bradshaw, NE, the son of Manley and Mabel (Porter) Fisher. Wayne graduated from the Polk High School in 1936. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941-45 with the 492 Bomb Group based in England. As a crew member on a B-24 he flew 33 missions as a ball turret gunner (belly gunner) including 25 high altitude and 8 night missions to targets in France and Germany. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. On March 24, 1946 Wayne was united in marriage to Beverly McBride in Blair, NE. He attended Iowa State College (Iowa State University) from Dec 1945-Dec 1948 graduating with a major in Agronomy. Wayne worked for three years in Denison and Eldora for the Soil Conservation Service before starting farming north of Radcliffe in 1952. He moved to Buckeye in 1957 to continue farming until 1978 when they retired and moved to Arkansas until 2000. Wayne served on the Hardin County Fair Board, Director and Chairman of Farmers Mutual Insurance, Director of Hardin Co. FHA and the Hardin County Extension Council.

Wayne is survived by his three sons, Bruce of Ames, Mark and his wife, Jackie of Clear Lake, and Paul and his wife, Sherry of St. Peter, MN; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Billie Jean Flynn of Blair, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; a brother, Paul; and a sister, Mary Margaret
