Maud was born in Lehi, Utah, the 6th child and 5th daughter of Martin George and Emily Lavina Williams Miller, on 23 September 1901.

Maud always said she was named after a mule or a cow, and that her name sounded like a toad on a mud fence.

She was baptized in the Winder Ward In Salt Lake City, on Saturday, 30 April 1910, by Marion S. Tanner and confirmed on Sunday, 1 May 1910, by George B. Williams.

When Maud was one and one-half years old, the family moved to Magrath, Alberta, Canada, where they stayed until she was eight years old.

She died in American Fork, 28 December 1978, from cancer.
