Mary as she was called, was the daughter of Frank Newton Taylor and Flora Ann Mitcham. She first married Ernest Albert Skuse and they had one son, Harry Franklin Skuse. She later married John Bannister and then Harry R. Walter. She and two of her sisters, Dolly and Rose had a dance act and called themselves the "Sutherland Sisters". Mary also starred in radio programs.
