Byron S. Hodgeman, Jr. 1937 - 2012 BENNINGTON, VT Byron Sykes Hodgeman, Jr., 75, a former resident of Jackson Cross Road in Pownal, VT died Saturday May 26, 2012 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. He was born in East Providence, R.I., April 4, 1937, son of the late Byron Sykes and Marion Louise (Peck) Hodgeman. Byron received his education in East Providence and was a graduate of East Providence High School class of 1956. Mr. Hodgeman served in the United States Army Reserves from 1956 to 1958. Mr. Hodgeman married the former Patricia M. Stevens in East Providence on Sept. 27, 1958. Mrs. Hodgeman died Dec. 10, 2009. In earlier years, Byron was employed at various jobs throughout the United States, which included missionary work with the Navajo Indians in New Mexico. At the time of his retirement, he was employed at Wakenhut Security. Mr. Hodgeman was a member of the Green Mountain Christian Center in Bennington. He enjoyed working with electronics. Survivors include his five children and their spouses, Edward and Michelle Jones of Petersburgh, NY, Daniel and Brenda Hodgeman of Petersburgh, NY, Jody and James Michaels of Gilman, Warren and Cindy Cook of Petersburh, NY, Paul and Lori Hodgeman of Pownal, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Russell Hodgeman of Hopewell Junction, NY, Martin Hodgeman of Sun City, Fla., and Jack Hodgeman of Petersburgh, NY; three sisters, Melissa Boyce of East Providence, R.I., Romona Rutherford-Jones of South Africa and Priscilla Hodgeman of Providence, R.I. Mr. Hodgeman was predeceased by a son, Byron Sykes Hodgeman III, a grandson, Kyle Jones, and by two brothers, Herbert and David Hodgeman. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at the Green Mountain Christian Center on Main St. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in the Jelley Family Cemetery in Petersburgh, NY at the convenience of the family. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Byron may be made to Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bennington, VT, through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
