She would have been married to her "sweetheart," William E. Ledbetter, for 50 years in October of 2012.
She truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She has been affectionately referred to as "the little giant" in reference to her big heart and small stature. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
She was born July 27, 1945, to Ralph and Helen Baker. Her father referred to her as the "most beautiful baby ever born."
Mrs. Ledbetter worked for Lifetouch Senior Portraits as a Customer Service Supervisor for 25 years prior to her retirement. She attended Yorktown High School.
Her interests included traveling, crocheting, gardening, shopping, playing games, card club, and attending her grandchildren's sporting and musical events. She attended Corinth Congregational Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Baker.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband, William E. Ledbetter of Gaston; her four children, Kerry Ledbetter (wife-Lori) of Muncie, Kris Puterbaugh (husband-Bill) of Yorktown, Kent Ledbetter (wife-Patricia) of Monticello, and Kelly Ledbetter (wife-Jodie) of Muncie. She is also survived by three siblings, Karen Rowls (husband-Joe), Sharon Hawkins (husband-Charles) and Keith Baker (wife-Teresa). She was a wonderful grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Julie Puterbaugh, Katie McGuire, Alyssa Dowling, Kody Ledbetter, Kory Ledbetter, Chelsea Ledbetter, Jonathan Ledbetter, Mike Toney, Joel Toney, Mark Toney, and Christopher Finchum. She had five great-grandchildrenn with another one on the way.
A celebration of Sheila's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Corinth Congregational Christian Church, 8009 North CR 500 West, Muncie, IN 47304.
