CYNTHIA was the daughter of John W. Gollithan and Sarah (Ditto) Gollithan. Her father, John, died before 1840 in Bedford County, Tennessee. Her mother, Sarah, died in 1874, (of consumption) in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, and was listed in the "city deaths" for that year. In a Nashville City Directory for 1872, Sarah was listed as "widow of John" and was living with a son and two grandsons who were working for the railroad. No gravestone or burial place has been found for either John or Sarah (Ditto) Gollithan.

Cynthia's sister, Mary Ann (Gollithan) McGuyer, is buried in Delta County, Texas; her brother, James William Gollithan, is buried in Bedford County, Tennessee; her sister, Nancy Elizabeth (Gollithan) Hancock, is buried in Wilson County, Tennessee; and her sister, Sarah J. (Gollithan) Ragsdale, is buried in Franklin County, Tennessee. The grave of their brother, Martin Gollithan has not been found.

Cynthia married Wilson Baird on August 23, 1851, in Wilson County, Tennessee. They moved to Gibson County, Tennessee, before the 1860 census.

They were the parents of--James Monroe, Sarah Alice, Martin, Mary Emma, Hellon V., Caroline "Callie", Robert, Nancy Biddle, C(?), and Jennie Lynn Baird.
