He and Grandma were married in 1926 and lived in Paradise on a farm until 1935. After the depression he did not feel that making a living on the farm was viable and the family moved to McPherson. He worked as a plumber in McPherson until about 1944, when he moved with his family to Washington.
According to my aunt, they initially went to Tri-Cities where there was government work, but upon arrival discovered there was no housing. Workers and their families were living in tents. That wasn't acceptable to him and they moved first to Seattle, where his sister lived. He found work in Dupont and they moved to Salishan, where he was a steamfitter. Eventually, they moved to Tacoma, where they lived until his death.
He and Christina raised 4 children, and remained married until Arden's death in 1974.
As his oldest granddaughter, one of the things I remember most about him is how much he loved his grandchildren. He could always be counted on to hand out candy and gum and was always ready to play games with us.
Though he's been gone for many years, he is not forgotten.
