Mrs. Barraclough was formerly Miss Carrie Peterson Skogen and was born in the town of Otsego January 10, 1875. She was the daughter of Knut and Ingrid Skogen. She was baptized in the Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church March 14 the same year. In 1891 she was confirmed in Spring Prairie Lutheran Church by the late Reverend C.K. Preus. She spent the year preceding her confirmation in the Spring Prairie parsonage with the Preus family.
On December 23, 1898 she was united in marriage to John Barraclough. With the exception of a short while their home has been here at Rio. Three sons were born to them: Casper, Madison; Ervin, Rockford, Illinois; and Stanford, Camp Beauregard, Louisiana.
A year ago last July her health failed to a marked degree and in the following November she submitted to a very serious operation from which she never fully recovered. For the past several months she has been confined to her home continuously.
Besides her husband and sons and one grandson, she is survived by three brothers, Peter Skogen, Wyocena, Hans Peterson, Montevideo, Minnesota, and William Skogen, Waukesha, and two sisters, Mrs. Herman Hegna, Rio, and Miss Sena Peterson, Wyocena. One sister, Mrs. Harry Barraclough, Columbus, preceded her in death only three weeks ago.
