[Samuel King] Died at the St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois at 4:00 p.m. September 16, 1919 of a broken limb and heart trouble, which he has suffered for 19 months.
Samuel King was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Will King. He was born January 1, 1894, and at the time of his death was 36 years, 8 month and 15 days of age. He was married to Etta Parent 14 years ago and to this union three children were born, Odel, age 12 years, Edith, age 7 years, and Emmaline, age 19 months, who survive with the following brothers and sisters, Layman and George of Oraville, Freeman of Murphysboro, Mrs. Emma Ebersohl and Mrs. Ellen Morgan of Ora township, also his mother, Mrs. Winford Woodside of Percy, Illinois. His father, several sisters and one brother preceded him in death years ago. He also leaves other relatives and a host of friends.
The body was brought to Ava where Wednesday afternoon funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Wm. Boatman of Murphysboro. The remains were then taken to the King Cemetery east of this city and laid to rest.
