She was Born Nov. 18, 1913, at Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Harry and Maude Higgins.
Mrs. Coleman was employed for 33 years at Metro Pants in Harrisonburg. She was a volunteer worker at Price Rotary Senior Center in Harrisonburg. Her friends there and being able to serve were some of the greatest joys of her life.
She was a member of the Believer's Fellowship Church in Montrose, W. VA.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Everett L. (Red) Coleman, on June 15, 2000. Also deceased are a son, Thomas Finchum Jr. and a granddaughter, Michelle Coleman.
She is survived by four sons, Rusty Coleman of Timberville, Robert Coleman and companion, Debby Clower of Harrisonburg, Everett L. Coleman Jr. and wife, Terry, of Okachobee, Fla., and Tim Coleman Sr. of McLeansboro, Ill.; two daughters, Darlene Raines of New Market and Sue Claypool and husband, Joe of Harrisonburg; a brother, Mike Higgins and wife, Evalene of Harrisonburg; 16 grandchildren, Cheryl, Jackie, Bobby, Crissy, Angie, Eric, Travis, Chad, Nickie, Christy, Ashley, Joey, Jennifer, Paul Nicholas and Daniel and 19 great-grandchildren, Davy, Meg, Tayler, Torry, Hallie, McKayla, Keelin, Alley, Jericho, Audra, Jacob, Gage, Kyle, Skylar, Joseph, Dana, Jerralee, Austin and Madison.
Nanny loved her family, her friends and her God with a passion. We will miss her terribly.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market. The Rev. Terry Cannon will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at New Market.
The following grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Bobby Gosney, Eric Coleman, Travis Coleman, Curtis Vest, Joe Claypool Jr., Daniel Claypool, Davy Orebaugh, Steve Edwards and Richie Testa.
The family will receive friends 7 until 8 this evening at the Theis Funeral Home in New Market.
