Lester Bass, 58, of 3112 South Everett, died Wednesday at home. He was born in Dawson, SD and lived in the Tri-Cities since 1949. He was an English Teacher and former Librarian at Kennewick High School. He was the father of the late Michael Bass who was a pilot of an airplane that crashed January 5 near Snoqualmie Pass in which two Tri-Citians survived. He was a member of Kennewick United Methodist Church and Washington Education Association. Survivors include wife, Betty; daughter, Sarah Lightner, Kennewick; brothers, Walter Bass, Mesa, AZ, Louis Bass, Fort Collins, CO., and Lawrence Bass, Effinghem, IL.; sisters, Helen Bass, Tempe, AZ, and Mrs. Richard (Audrey) Meade, Marion, IN.; and one grand-daughter. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Mueller Funeral Home with the Reverend Rick Ocheltree officiating. Burial will be in Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
