GEORGE, Iowa - Dick Behrends, 102, of George died Monday in a hospital in Sibley. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, rural George. The Rev. William Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today in the Vogelaar-Bolin Funeral Home in George.
Mr. Behrends was born March 24, 1883, in Grundy County. He was a long-time George area farmer. He married Franna Willemssen Jan. 26, 1910. She died in 1953. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ted (Frances) Timmer, Mrs. Lorin (Loraine) Chadwick and Mrs. Orval (Eunice) Lenderts, all of George; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
