Opera Singer. A soprano soloist, she was recognized as one of the foremost of the Baroque repertoire. She undertook her Bachelor's studies in Music at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. After graduating in 1962, she built her singing credentials over the next decade, receiving a grant in 1972 which launched her into the Baroque music performance circles of Europe. During this time she attained the support of patron of the arts Madame Geneviève Thibault de Chambure, and developed professional relationships with such accomplished musicians as Christopher Hogwood, Rene Jacobs, and William Christie. She made her operatic debut in Brussels, Belgium in 1979, playing the part of 'Drusilla' in Claudio Monteverdi's "L'incoronazione di Poppea"; later that year she performed the role at the celebrated La Fenice opera house in Venice, Italy. Throughout her career, she performed and recorded extensively in Europe, North America and Asia, and worked with major baroque ensembles and orchestras including the Academy of Ancient Music, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (of which she was a founding member), Tafelmusik, and Aston Magna. After a long and successful career, she retired in 2004 due to health reasons, and passed away peacefully in Albany, California, at the age of 72. She donated her body to medical science, and a cenotaph was erected for her in the Danish Cemetery, Becker Township, Sherburne County, Minnesota.
