Rhoda's mother was living as Emiline Davis in the 1856 Census for Vernon, Van Buren County, Iowa, with her children Thomas Alfrey, Amanda Alfrey, and Sarrah E. Alfred. Her marital status was checked as married, but there was no Mr. Davis named on the census with them.

RHODA DAVIS BLOUNT
Rhoda Davis was born in Scotland county, Missouri, September 22, 1859, and died at her home in Ottumwa at 11:30 p.m., December 4, 1918, at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 12 days.
On June 8, 1879, she was united in marriage to George W. Blount, since which time she had lived in Iowa, with the exception of the year she spent in Kansas and two and one-half years in Pasadena, Cal. To this union were born three children, Charles of Beaumont, Texas, and Harry and Jewel, both of Ottumwa. Besides these she is survived by two half sisters, Mrs. Amanda McCrary of Farmington and Mrs. Elizabeth Morriott of Bentonsport and one half brother, T.D. Alfrey of Mt. Sterling.
For many years Mrs. Blount had been a faithful member of the Christian church. She had been a patient sufferer for a long time and has laid down her burden here with a cheerfulness that many will cherish her memory as a good Christian wife and mother.
She was a charter member of Enterprise Rebekah lodge No. 132 and also a member of J.M. Tuttle W.R.C., No. 327.
The funeral services were conducted at the Davis Street Christian church by Rev. A.L. Criley and interment was made in Shaul cemetery December 6, 1918.
