He spelled Arick with one "r" while some of his siblings spelled it with two. He married his 2nd cousin Margaret Ann Lee at High Hill, Muskingum County, Ohio where they made their home for a time. In the 1880 census they are living in Coal Township, Perry County, Ohio until moving to Vinton County in 1881. Jacob died at 10:pm at his home above Siverly Creek, Swan Township, Vinton County, just 2 hours before his 88th birthday. His son Frank and his family made their home with him.

OBITUARY
Jacob Arick, died at the home of his son Frank Arick of Swan Township on Friday, May 4th, of senility, at the age of 88 years. Funeral services were held at Bethel Sunday afternoon by Rev. L. L. Cherrington of McArthur. Burial in the Bethel Cemetery, H. C. Smith in charge. The funeral was very largely attended many coming from a distance. The pall bearers were six of his granchildren: Walter, Ralph, Robert,Willis, Floyd and Wilbur Arick. The flower bearers were Bonnie and Hazel Brown and Mary Johnston.
