Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late William Boyd and Amy Turner.
Mr. Turner was retired from BellSouth and was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Greer, where he served as a Deacon. He was a Shriner and active member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Turner was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mary Beth Dean and husband, Paul, of Greer; a son, Stephen Earl Turner and wife, Linda, of Newark, DE; four grandchildren, Randy, Jay, Christi, and Amy; a great granddaughter, Baxter Peach; and two stepsisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Earl Turner, Jr.; three sisters; and four brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Charles Turner Memorial Fund, c/o Providence Baptist Church, 2020 Gibb Shoals Road, Greer, SC 29650.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2011, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Reverend Dr. Paul Dean, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the residence.
