Crossville Chronicle May 5, 1932
Sunday night about 8 o'clock, Randall Greer, aged 19, son of Dr D A Greer, Pikeville, was shot 6 times in the breast and head by some person unknown and died a short time later.
Shortly after the killing, Sheriff T J Swafford arrested Duell Swafford, aged 22, and charged him with having done the shooting. It is said that the two men had had a wordy difficulty some time before.
The report of the killing states that young Greer was called by someone sitting in a car as he was standing on the opposite side of the street and asked him to come to the car. Greer crossed the street to the car and the shooting began at once, without anything being said, is the claim.
(Misspelled person shot Randall Greer was Buell not Duell Swafford)
