Columbia - Services for Ernest Elden Jones, 77, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2004 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Carolina Jazz Society. Mr. Jones died Thursday, August 19, 2004. Born in Salley, SC he was the son of the late Ernest and Ruth Humphreys Jones. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a South Carolina Legislator. Mr. Jones was a life long jazz musician, and a member of the Carolina Jazz Society. He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Jones of Columbia; sons, Edward E. Jones of Greenville, Barry Earl Jones of Newberry; daughters, Sherry J. Williamson of Aiken, Ashley Mosser-King of North Carolina; step-daughter, Melanie A. B. Kicklighter of Suwanee, GA; sister, Beverly Rush of Greenville; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. © The State, Columbia, SC, 22 Aug 2004
