Jack Montgomery

OAKLAND -- Jack Montgomery, 66-year-old native of Snelling, died Friday afternoon of a heart attack. He had been a semi-invalid for several years.

He was the son of the late John A. Montgomery, one time supervisor in Merced County, and Adelaine Montgomery Henderson. His grandfather was John Milton Montgomery, a prominent cattleman in the early days of the county.

Mr. Montgomery was a graduate of Merced High School. He attended engineering school in Oakland and afterwards went to work for the Shell Oil Co.

He was a sales manager for oil company in Honolulu and was there at the time of the attack on Pear Harbor. During World War II he was made a coordinator for oil distribution for oil companies in Honolulu. Since the war he had been Shell's national sales representative for the west coast at San Francisco. He retired five years ago.

Mr. Montgomery leaves his wife, Nita Norvell Montgomery of Oakland; his stepfather, Dr. Frank Henderson of Snelling, and an aunt, Mrs. E. J. Murray of Miami, Fla.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Albert Brown Funeral Home in Oakland.
