In 1894, by covered wagon that Elias and Mary Tawney came to Michigan with their family. They had a team of horses, two cows and a few chickens, along with some farm equipment. The ladies and the children would sleep in the homes along the way and the men would sleep under the wagon. An aunt lived in Newaygo County, Michigan had offered to help them out since they were having such a struggle (L. E. T. (livig) was not sure on which side of the family it was). They reflected that Elias and Mary Tawney eventually settled in Pine Lake in Plainwell, Berry County, Michigan.
The term Ladies reflected that it was possible that maybe more than one family may have traveled to Michigan.
