He attended Shelly schools and graduated from Climax High School. He was in the U.S. Army - Minnesota PFC CD 39th Infantry. Martin was never married and had no children. Martin was killed in a car/train accident in Shelly, Norman, Minnesota when he was blinded by the sun and did not see the oncoming train and he ran into the moving train.
