Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rolfe, with the Rev. Steven Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Palmer. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at Powers Funeral Home, Rolfe.
Herman Harry Claussen was born near Palmer April 1, 1917. He was educated in Palmer area schools. In 1939, Herman married Vivalore Onken at St. John's Lutheran Church near Palmer. The couple farmed in various areas in Pocahontas County.
In 1967 and 1968, Herman attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and became a licensed practical nurse. In 1972, the couple moved to Rolfe.
Herman was the administrator of the Rolfe Nursing Home until his retirement in 1982. Herman and Vivalore wintered in Arizona for the past nine years.
Herman was a member of the Rolfe Lions Club.
