Served in the Union Army from Nov. 1863 to 17 Jun 1864 as a private. He was injured and treated at Harwood Hospital, Washington D.C. and was at the Ford Theater the night President Lincoln was shot, and within a few days, he also marched in the Funeral procession for the fallen President.
