While a small child he moved with his parents, brothers and sisters to Hopkins, Mo., and at the age of 14 to Cedar, Kansas where his parents homesteaded. He later moved to Smith Center where he resided until Jan 1927, when he moved to Oskaloosa, KS where he engaged in farming, moving to Lawrence in 1929, where he resided until his death.
He was united in marriage to Susie E. Hoyt Nov. 24, 1889 at Holdrege, Nebraska and to this union were born six children, two preceding him in death, Henry & Glen. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife & his children: Mrs. Nellie Millier, Mrs Blanche Miller, Lester and Harold McNeil, one sister Mrs. Nancy Hatfield of Dove Creek, Colorado. Three sisters, Eliza Jane, Mrs. Anna Ball, Mrs Ellen Reed and two brothers, Thomas C. and J. Harmon McNeil and his father and mother are waiting for him on the other shore.
