Martin Koller, the son of Sebastian Koller and Ursula Bauer, was born 1790-1800 in Waltersheim, Bavaria, Germany He married May 27, 1823, to Thersia Wagner. All information relating to Martin and Theresa was found in the Schmidmulhlen parish registers.

Today, Waltresheim Schmidmuhlen parish does not exist. This is a large military camp.

Martin and Theresia lived in Waltersheim until 1832, at which time they moved to Krammetshafe (Krommetshof, Krometshof) now Grammetshof which consisted of 3 houses at the time and which belonged to the Beratzhausen parish.

Martin Koller, 54 years old, emigrated in March 1846 with his family. He immigrated to Port Washington, Wisconsin. They, as a family, said to America on the Francois 1st.

He walked from Port Washington to Fredonia, Wisconsin with an axe on his shoulder and lived under an elm tree until he could build a log cabin for his family. he and his wife Theresa finally settled in a small community about six miles west of Fredonia, called Litt Koller. The town was named after the Kollers, but the name was later changed by Post Office request.

Martin's first farm was homesteaded from the government. During the next twenty years he acquired as many as 500 acres of farm land. In the early 1860s, he provided land, stone, and lumber to build St Mary's Catholic church. Part of that same church still stands and is an active mission in Little Kohler today. His home was built beside a pond below where the church now stands.

Martin passed away in August 1862, and Theresa joined him on March 2, 1873 at Fredonia, Wisconsin. They are both buried at the St Mary's Cemetery on land they donated to the church at Little Kohler. Their grave sites have metal crosses with detail in the center of the cross identifying their names. It is located about 4-5 rows back from the road and toward the far end of the cemetery in the old section.
