He was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Paragould. He was a U.S. Army veteran and formerly with the Paragould Police Department. He was a former member of the Greene County Sheriff's Department's Criminal Investigation Division and a former truck driver for Monroe Auto Equipment. He was also of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Leisure; a daughter, Gayla Leisure Hale; a brother, Jackie G. Leisure; and his stepfather, John Heritage
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Leisure of the home; his mother and her husband, Bernice Heritage and Avery Benton of Paragould; his stepmother, Clara Mae Leisure of Ripley, Miss.; two sons, Jerry Don Leisure of Paragould and Paul Leisure of Leachville; two daughters, Janet Grooms and Paige Templeton, both of Paragould; a brother, Johnny Heritage of Paragould; and 10 sisters, Charlotte Gazaway, Dorothy Hancock, Gloria Anderson, Emma Haynes, Deborah Hayes, Angela Cooper, and Jennifer Hammon, all of Paragould and Patsy Beauchamp, Donna Bates, and Angie Leisure, all of Ripley; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.
Pallbearers will be John Purcell, Quenton Spurlock, Dutch Beasley, Ronnie Spillman, Toby White and Rex Moreland.
